Our Form of Government is a Constitutional Republic

Our Form of Government is a Constitutional Republic. At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, upon leaving Independence Hall, Benjamin Franklin was asked "Well, Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy?" To which he replied "A republic if you can keep it.”

America is a republic governed by the rule of law. America is not a democracy. A democracy is the rule of the majority and the tyranny of the minority.

According to the Founding Fathers:

Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths. James Madison

Remember democracy never lasts long, it soon wastes, exhausts, and murder itself. There never was a Democracy that didn't commit suicide. John Adams
