Cultural Distinctives that are Incompatible with America
There are a few Cultural Distinctives that are Incompatible with America. Such things that are contrary to our LAW or are enemies to freedom simply cannot work.
Our Perspective on the Melting Pot
The meaning we ascribe to "The Melting Pot" is the idea that people from other nations become part of American because they love what the USA stands for. That relates to our freedoms which come from God and are protected by our LAW (the US Constitution).
Inclusion over Diversity
The American Melting Pot is comprised of people from all over the world that come here to participate in such a way as to be included in the American way of life rather than isolated from it.
Diversity is NOT Isolation
We can be very different from one another retaining aspects of our unique cultures, our family's traditions, and still enjoy friendship with harmony as Americans.
Exceptions to this Rule
There are a few necessary exceptions to this rule. Some practices of some cultures simply CANNOT BLEND in with American values.
Here are a few examples:
- Cannibalism. To some cultures, cannibalism is acceptable. This will not work with America.
- Female Genital Mutilation. This is considered a crime here.
- Sharia Law. Sharia Law is NOT compatible with a free society.
